Calcasieu Building Historic Restoration

The Calcasieu Building in downtown San Antonio was constructed in 1914 has an office and retail building designed by noted San Antonio Architect, Atlee B. Ayers.  Dockery Architecture’s design work returned the exterior façade to the original conditions determined from historical photos and on-site analysis.  The ground floor retail spaces were updated.  Floors two through six were converted to modern rentable apartment units meeting current building and fire codes while respecting the historic interior materials and details.  Dockery Architecture prepared Parts I and II of the National Park Service Historic Preservation Certificate and worked closely with the State Historic Preservation Officer for designated landmark status.
