Bexar County Greenies Urban Farm

Dockery Architecture lead a multi-discipline team of designers, planners and engineers tasked with assessments and recommendations for the redevelopment of 10-acres in the San Antonio inner city.  The site, acquired from the Union Pacific Railroad, had not previously been developed.  The master plan envisions an urban farm with outdoor kitchen/demonstration pavilion that will serve to provide fresh vegetables to needed San Antonio residents while educating the citizen’s on nutrition and healthy lifestyles.  The plan includes a new office building for the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service, the County program that includes the Agriculture, Horticulture and 4H Extension Agents.  An event center will support the urban farm programs while also being available to the community for weddings, family reunions and corporate meetings.  Careful planning of new facilities protects the undeveloped and natural landscaping along the Menger Creek which bi-sects the site.
